People With Access
In 2024 BioLite brought MPOWERD into our family, enabling an expansion of our combined impact. BioLite went from 8 million people reached to over 14 million in just one year, thanks to the combined impact of our merger with MPOWERD and our ongoing efforts to bring cookstove and SolarHome solutions to more families.
Tons Of CO2e Offset
Carbon emissions are avoided when traditional charcoal or wood fires used for cooking are replaced with BioLite clean burning wood and charcoal stoves. To date, BioLite cooking products have avoided 2.5 million tons of wood. 5M tons of CO2e is like taking 1 million cars off the road for an entire year.
Fuel Savings
Thanks to the efficiency and renewable energy sources of our products, customers are able to spend less on wood, charcoal, or expensive kerosene. Customers, many who live below their nation’s poverty lines, are able to save an estimated $100-150 annually. USAID estimates that two thirds of Kenyans live in poverty and make only $3.20/day.
Becoming A B Corp
In our ongoing mission to measure and improve our impact, we’re proud to announce that we are officially a Certified B Corporation. BioLite earned an impressive 157.8 out of 200 on the scoring assesment, a reflection of our deep commitment to balancing purpose and profit while driving lasting benefits for both people and the planet.

MPOWERD Merger
Welcoming Luci Into The Family
2024 marks an exciting new chapter in BioLite’s mission as we proudly welcome the beloved Luci lighting lineup into our family. For over a decade, these solar-powered lights produced by MPOWERD have illuminated millions of lives, bringing safety, comfort, and joy to people in some of the most remote and vulnerable communities around the world.
Impact Through Carbon
REI Multi-year Partnership
30,000 homes in Rwanda will have less smoke in their eyes, faster meals, and money saved thanks to our first-of-its-kind partnership with REI Co-op. Announced in 2024, the multi-year carbon partnership will dramatically increase the scale at which we are able to manufacture and distribute cookstoves, immediately improving the lives of thousands, and will enable REI to account for operational emissions as they pursue their long term path to a net-zero future.
Impact Through Entrepreneurship
Solar Sister
Solar Sister, a BioLite distribution partner, is transforming lives by empowering women entrepreneurs to bring clean energy solutions to their communities. Through a unique distribution model, Solar Sister trains and supports women to build sustainable businesses selling solar lights, clean cookstoves, and other products. This model not only provides economic opportunities but also directly addresses energy poverty and health challenges faced by families relying on traditional cooking methods.
Durango Rotary Club Brings Lighting To The Navajo Reservation
BioLite has partnered with the Rotary Club, providing SolarHome 620 units to be used in their installations. Originally designed to provide lighting, connectivity, and security to customers in Africa, the systems are a natural match for homes on the reservation with these similar needs.
Scaling Distribution With Green Genset Facility
Last year, our partnership with GGF resulted in the importation of more than 1,200 BaseCharges and panels into Nigeria, where GGF is actively vetting over a dozen BioLite distribution partners to access products on favorable payment terms.
The Give Energy Fund Has Immediate Impact
In 2024, we were thrilled to launch the Give Energy Fund, a program originally pioneered by MPOWERD, now expanding under the BioLite umbrella. This initiative allows customers around the world to contribute directly, helping to deliver clean energy solutions to communities affected by natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
